My theme was sunflowers, with their rich colours and cheerful disposition, they seemed like a great choice to challenge all the Bee artists!
So, here's the picture of all the fabrics made for me.....
I'll add the missing ones as they arrive.
As usual I'll be sending out a selection of 6" squares from all the artists to one lucky winner. All you need to do, is to add a comment below or at my blog and tell us how you would use the squares in a new project for 2015! I'd love to hear from you, and I'll draw a name on Dec. 15th......
BTW, did you see the great article about the Printed Bee and our inspirations in the latest issue of Quilting Arts Magazine?
Don't forget to stop by and see how everyone created their fabrics this month:
Woo hoo! Sunflowers in December! Great idea for a cold winter day! I'd think about making a selection of quilted/beaded independent blocks, connected in a lattice...how many ways can you bead a sunflower?
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful choice for December! We need the sunny cheer of sunflowers. I would definitely incorporate these gorgeous squares into a batik scrap quilt. Thanks for the chance to win this beautiful artwork!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to share this process with my 8th grade Consumer Family Studies students. We start off hand sewing with felt and then move on to creating our own aprons. The idea of having my students collaborate on their creations by sharing what your group has done, and having examples, will be a fun kick off to our sewing unit.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I would love to make a wallhanging with those sunflowers to bring the summer in my house. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great choice, Susan ! It has resulted in the use of lots of orange and yellow! Love it.
ReplyDeleteLove the samples...I would add to a quilt I will work on in a class with pattynhawkins
ReplyDeleteI'd use them in a Summer quilt to add to my Spring and Autumn wall hangings!
ReplyDeleteI would try to use them with strips of lighter fabrics, hoping each square would "pop". Or, I would just pin them up by my sewing machine and sigh every time I looked at them.
ReplyDeleteWow -they are so gorgeous. I think they would look lovely with contrasting batik fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI'd make a wall hanging for my kitchen. I have a few sunflowers in the wallpaper in my nook, and they are one of my favorite flowers. I've talked a Facebook friend into sharing seeds from his crop of gorgeous sunflowers grown this year. A mix of all kinds of varieties and traditional ones along with hybrids and newer varieties. I hope to have a beautiful feast for the eyes as I look out my kitchen windows, and a wall hanging using these fabrics would be the ultimate. I'm sure I'd be tempted to pull out some of my old supplies and make a twelfth square.
ReplyDeleteI love these and would turn them into a table of counter runner to brighten my home.
ReplyDeleteOH. MY.GOODNESS! I am sitting here in my home office, at the computer, looking at my blank white walls in front of me. Oh what a canvas! I would absolutely LOVE to have these little pieces of art. Each one framed with an over-sized white mat, placed side by side, like in a small gallery. It just seems to be the right thing to do. :)
ReplyDeleteDonna M, they are yours. Let me know your mailing address, either email or message and I'll get them in the mail to you. Email address is: susanpm(at)shaw.ca
DeleteSunflowers is a wonderful choice for winter days, and cheerful all year round. And a great variety of interpretations. I think I would combine sets of two or three into panels. They could be runners or wall hangings...lots of possibilities, I'm sure. Thanks to all of the artists for your collaboration.
ReplyDeleteI would make a quilt with spring as the theme
ReplyDeleteI love sunflowers! So cheery! I'd definitely make a lap quilt with these-and showcase those lovely flowers!
ReplyDeleteI am a quilter and enjoy doing quilts for those less fortunate!!!!! So I would add what I could at a time for something special to make someone smile. sonjasmith76@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI would put these together in a couple of quilted cushions for my niece, who loves sunflowers.
ReplyDeleteI would use it in a quilt for my daughter. sarah@forrussia.org
ReplyDeleteI would pet them and then put them up in my new big sewing room for inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI would add them to a quilt. dawnm1993 at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteI would use the squares to make a beautiful table runner. My goal is to have a new table runner for each holiday in 2015. This would be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAt first I was seeing a quilt but then I could see some framed art.
ReplyDeleteI have been working on designing a modern quilt and thought that I would make it with bright homespun colours. It would be really interesting to use a collection such as the sunflowers. I think the same design would be totally different with plains or prints. Would love to try it in both styles.

ReplyDeleteSunflowers, wonderful choice. I would add them into a scrappy quilt. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteThese cheerful prints would be a wonderful addition to a memorial quilt I am making in my niece’s memory.
ReplyDeleteI would frame them in strips of grey, such pretty fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI would add blue sky for contrast with the yellows and oranges, and 3-d leaves for texture. Love the patterns and fabrics!!
ReplyDeleteI would make my own sunflower fabric and make them all into a small wall hanging.
ReplyDeleteA sampler is planned for the new year...to try out appliqué for the first time...this selection would help. Best wishes and thanks for the chance

ReplyDeleteI would make a sunny quilt for a loved one who is very ill. Sunflowers are my favourite. Last summer I had two that spent their days looking at each other instead of at the sun!
